to make infrastructure better
We don’t design infrastructure projects. We design the products you need to make projects better.
That’s why we have more than 30 engineers and technicians on our team. Civil engineers experienced in construction project management. Structural engineers experienced in the design of infrastructure, including bridges and pressurized pipelines. Mechanical engineers experienced in design of equipment and automation of processes.
Our engineers are focused on designing context-sensitive products that can be manufactured to suit your needs. We don’t try to make a standard precast product suit your project’s specific application or environment. Every product we design can be manufactured to be the best solution for the challenges facing the particular project.
Munro Ltd. holds a Certificate of Authorization (C of A), license issued by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), permitting the company to provide professional engineering services to the public.
As a firm member of Consulting Engineers of Ontario (CEO), Munro Ltd. supports many of the organization’s initiatives, including quality-based selection of engineering services and support for infrastructure funding.
Engineering services at Munro Ltd. start even before a project is determined. And they go beyond just the products we provide. Designing an infrastructure system? Trying to determine how to adapt something new to an existing system? Contact Us and we’ll give you our advice.
It may be simply just to point you toward an expert to speak with that we know, or it may be to give you some ideas on what is possible to design and manufacture. We’re engineers. We like trying to figure out how things work and how to make them work better.
Tools of the Trade
Our engineering tools are just as advanced as our 44,000-square-meter, automated manufacturing facility. Munro engineers use SolidWorks to design infrastructure products. The 3D modeling software allows our engineers to design complex geometries, determine assemblies for very large structures, check interferences and determine the weights of pieces—all before the product is manufactured.
We can share that information with you to refine the design further, or to ensure you have a complete understanding of the final product for approval. And when the product is ready for manufacture, Munro SolidWorks drawings are fed directly into our manufacturing systems. We have refined “CAD to Path” in our manufacturing process. When our engineers design in SolidWorks, the design is fed directly to the manufacturing process to cut and/or weld the needed assemblies. This ensures the products designed are accurately manufactured to the design—quickly, effectively and at the highest possible quality.
Preparation of Shop Drawings
Shop drawings detail the design of all the infrastructure products to be manufactured, the quantities and installation requirements. Munro Ltd. prepares these drawings prior to manufacture—for all our infrastructure products.
We supply shop drawings for every project for which we are the manufacturer. The contractor gets to review them in order to ensure efficient installation. And the consulting engineer gets to review them to ensure compliance with the design parameters. Completed, final drawings are reviewed by Munro Ltd. engineers and stamped. This is our customers’ assurance that we are taking full responsibility for our work.
Shop drawings can be prepared before tendering of the installation / construction contract as a Munro Ltd. engineering service. We strongly recommend this approach for very large and complex projects, as it can help identify many product-cost and installation-cost savings when our engineers are involved as infrastructure product consultants in preliminary designs.
Span Bridge and Culvert Design and Sizing
For customers who perform hydraulic analysis of systems, Munro Ltd. engineers can design and manufacture the appropriately sized Munro Span or culverts to handle water flow.

In Situ Infrastructure Products
Infrastructure products have been manufactured from many materials to many different specifications over the years. And this can present challenges when connecting new installations to existing systems. Munro Ltd. can provide customers with options and recommendations for the challenges encountered when working with in situ infrastructure products. Munro Ltd. field services staff and engineering staff work together to provide the most effective solution.
Engineered Work Arounds
In many cases, in order to effectively deliver on the overall performance of an infrastructure system like a fresh water pipeline or a storm or sanitary system, sections of the system have to be re-thought or even re-designed from the original to take into account specific field conditions or changes in the project installation schedule. Munro Ltd. engineers can provide consultation services to determine the best course of action and the design of the most appropriate precast concrete or steel products to suit the application.
Advisory Services
Sometimes another idea or opinion from an experienced technical source is all that’s needed. Call us or email us at engineering@munroltd.com to get our input on your proposed design, course of action or tricky challenge.
