Direct to the Jobsite on Munro Trucks

Munro customers said they wanted better information about delivery of Munro products to the jobsite. So Munro Ltd. evaluated the options and then invested in the purchase of their own trucks for delivery to customers’ jobsites. Prior to this Munro had contracted with a trucking company to ship product from manufacturing to the jobsite. Munro Ltd. wanted to improve communication between the Munro shipping department, truck drivers and customers waiting for product on the jobsite. Timely communication allows customers to plan their installations more efficiently.

In the Fall of 2011 Munro Ltd. invested in personnel and equipment to manage their own trucking fleet. A fleet department was organized with a Munro Fleet Manager and 16 new Munro employees were hired to start driving the trucks. The Munro drivers wear Munro uniforms and are able to assist customers on the job site with information in addition to delivery.

This permits product loading while the trucks are delivering. And it ensures quick turnaround for the next load to be delivered.

Trailers are longer than the ones used prior. This means more product can be delivered with each load dispatched.

Real Time GPS Tracking of Munro Trucks

All Munro trucks are equipped with GPS receivers reporting back to a fleet management system in the Munro shipping office. Munro Ltd. now has exact information about where Munro trucks are relative to the jobsite and what type of truck is on its way. Accurate and timely information can be relayed to customers about their deliveries – a real advantage for the contractors that Munro supplies.
