Courtice Water Pollution Control Plant
Challenge
Replace Oshawa’s ageing water pollution control plant with a new 68,400 m3/day secondary plant. The project consisted of construction of the new plant with effluent outfall, construction of an outfall into Lake Ontario, construction of the harmony sanitary sewage creek pumping station and a conveyance system from the pumping station to the new water pollution control plant.
Solution:
Munro supplied 1800mm Class III 65D Reinforced concrete pipe for the conveyance of effluent from the tanks at the plant to a drop structure that connected with the outfall to the lake. In addition, Munro supplied 60m of 1050mm diameter C301 (L Class 14) concrete pressure pipe and fittings for two 30m runs of sanitary sewer from the plant’s inlet source.
Outcome:
Munro’s ability to supply both reinforced concrete pipe and prestressed concrete cylinder pipe enabled them to supply the complete needs for the conveyance infrastructure.
